High schoolers making a difference in their community!

High schoolers in middle Georgia hunt wild game and grow fresh produce, then donate it to families who need it most.

Harvest

Students hunt deer responsibly, not only to give back to the community but also to manage the ecosystem where they are over-populated.

Grow

Fresh produce is raised in student-tended gardens annually. We ensure that all of our gardens do not contain GMOs and are never treated with pesticides.

Give

The majority of harvests are donated directly to families in need to ensure students make a genuine connection with their community rather than just going through a third party.

Junior Harvesters for Health is a Georgia-based nonprofit built on a simple belief: young people who learn to harvest, whether from the land or the garden, become stewards of their community.

Our Mission Statement

A Georgia nonprofit organization dedicated to making communities healthier by teaching young people how to sustainably and ethically hunt, grow, and harvest healthy food and by donating wild game and fresh produce to local communities.

Our Values

Stewardship of the land. Respect for wildlife. Service to our neighbors. Safety in all things. These aren't just rules we follow, they're the culture we build and spread to all of our volunteers.

Our History

Junior Harvesters for Health was founded by two high school students, Lino Bartolo and Gates Bush, in Macon, Georgia, in 2023. JHH started as a way for them to give healthy and clean food to people in need, replacing traditional canned goods and other less healthy options. Since then, it has grown rapidly and gained significant attention from many other students in middle Georgia who participate in every step of the process.

Junior Harvesters for Health is made up of hunters, farmers, and volunteers who believe deeply in putting quality food on tables and good values in young people.

Our Volunteers

The heart of everything we do is our high school volunteers, young Georgians who show up before sunrise, work hard, and leave feeling fulfilled that they fed someone in need.
